Abosultely agree that the choice should be there. The issue (as I see it) is that the major ISP’s have all agreed to implement internet “safety” systems (Sky’s Broadband Shield, BT’s Parental Controls, Virgin’s Web Safe) and these are invariably DNS based, so the obviously want you using their DNS servers.
The biggest issue with Sky comes from their continued stance that customers can’t use their own routers, although this has at least now been lifted on ADSL.
